How to Edit and Repost Leads In Lead Prosper
There are situations where a lead enters your campaign with incorrect data or needs to be resent to a buyer. Lead Prosper allows you to edit and repost leads to handle these cases. This article covers how the feature works, what to watch out for, and the step-by-step process.
There are some key notes to consider when editing and reposting leads:
Leads are immutable. You cannot edit an existing lead directly. When you "edit" a lead, Lead Prosper creates a clone of the original. You make changes to the clone, and when you repost it, the system treats it as a completely new lead with its own unique lp_lead_id .
Edit and repost is only available for Direct Post campaigns. You cannot repost leads from a Ping Post Exchange. This is because Ping Post Exchanges ingest and sell leads through a multi-step, auction-based model. There is no guarantee that a buyer will accept the lead a second time or pay the same amount. For this reason, the feature is limited to Direct Post campaigns.
There is no guarantee a reposted lead will sell. A repost follows the same campaign logic as any other lead — buyers may still reject it.
Repost configuration settings persist between reposts. If you selected "Ignore caps" on a previous repost, that option will still be checked the next time you open the edit and repost screen. Always review your repost configuration before submitting.
How to Edit and Repost a Lead
- Go to your leads area and find the lead you want to edit or repost.
- Open the lead and identify which field(s) need to be changed.
- Click Edit and Repost.
- All field values are now editable. Make any changes needed before reposting.
- Review the Repost Configuration options on the right side of the screen:
- Ignore caps — Buyer and supplier caps will be ignored.
- Ignore filters — Buyer and supplier filters will be ignored.
- Ignore validations — Validations will not be executed.
- Ignore dupe checker — Dupe checker settings will be ignored.
- Choose how the lead is sent to buyers:
- Use campaign configuration — Posts the lead into the campaign like any other incoming lead. No special rules are applied.
- To specific buyer(s) — Only attempts the selected buyers, ignoring the others. Use this when you need to target specific buyers in the campaign.
- Click Repost Lead to submit.
After Reposting
If the repost was submitted successfully, a green bar appears with a success message indicating the lead has been queued for repost. Processing may take a few seconds depending on your configuration.
To check the result, close the lead modal and refresh the leads page. If the lead sold, it will show an Accepted status.
If the lead is rejected, you may need to edit and repost again. A common scenario: a lead has multiple issues (incorrect formatting across several fields, missing values), but when it is rejected by filters or internal checks, only a single error is surfaced. You may fix one issue only to encounter another on the next repost. In these cases, it can help to manually review each field to verify the data looks correct before reposting again.
Reposts are not charged, so you can edit and repost a lead as many times as needed until it is ingested and attempted against your buyers.
